EU Parliament backs US trade deal with strict tariff conditions

The European Parliament has approved plans to cut tariffs on United States goods, while setting strict conditions tied to compliance by Washington under a deal agreed in 2025. The vote clears the way for talks with EU member states on the final shape of the agreement. Lawmakers adopted two legislative proposals that would remove most tariffs on US industrial goods and grant wider access for agricultural and seafood exports. The measures form part of the EU-US trade agreement reached in Turnberry, Scotland, between US President Donald Trump and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
