Finland sees lower immigration but higher birth rate in 2025

Finland’s population increased by 20,929 people in 2025 despite a marked decline in immigration for the second consecutive year, according to preliminary data from Statistics Finland. A total of 50,060 people moved to Finland from abroad last year. This was 13,195 fewer than in 2024, and 23,176 fewer than in 2023. Emigration from Finland also declined slightly, with 15,208 people leaving the country, 1,706 fewer than the previous year.
