Global tourism reaches record 1.52 billion as Finland sets overnight stay record

International tourism reached a new record in 2025, with 1.52 billion people travelling abroad, according to the latest World Tourism Barometer from UN Tourism. The figure marks a 4 per cent increase on 2024 and stands almost 60 million above the previous peak recorded in 2019 before the pandemic. Europe remained the largest destination region, attracting 793 million international arrivals.
