Lindsey Vonn underwent surgery on a fractured left leg after a heavy crash during the women’s downhill final at the Milan–Cortina Winter Olympics on Sunday, with doctors confirming her condition is stable. The 41-year-old American skier fell just 13 seconds into her run on the Olimpia delle Tofane course in Cortina d’Ampezzo. Her right arm struck a gate at high speed, sending her out of control and down the slope. Medical staff treated her on the piste for an extended period before airlifting her away as spectators stood in silence.
