The United States has issued a 48-hour deadline to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, with President Donald Trump threatening to strike Iran’s power plants, prompting warnings from Tehran of attacks on energy infrastructure across the Middle East. Iran said it would target oil and energy facilities across the Gulf if its power network came under attack. Parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said “critical infrastructure and energy and oil infrastructure throughout the region will be considered legitimate targets”.
