Vantaa schools ban face coverings for pupils

2026-03-10 - 12:24

The Finnish city of Vantaa will require pupils to keep their faces visible throughout the school day under a new rule that bans face-covering clothing in comprehensive schools. City officials announced the policy to parents through the Wilma school communication system on Monday. The measure will take effect at the start of the next academic year on 1 August. The rule requires pupils in Vantaa’s comprehensive schools to remain identifiable at all times during the school day. The restriction applies both indoors and outdoors on school premises.
